The show takes the audience on a journey with three career-driven women working in a fictional fashion magazine, “Scarlet.”

The adorable bond between Jane, Sutton, and Kat will give you major friendship goals and their distinct yet equally inspiring personalities will keep you hooked till the series finale.

If you are not a fan of binge-watching and are looking for something light and refreshing yet invigorating to watch while having dinner, this is one of the best shows on Netflix for you!

The Crown

The historical drama series curated around the life of Queen Elizabeth II, The Crown is one of the most loved shows on the OTT platforms. The storyline covers distinct phases of the queen and gives us an insight into the life of royals.

Apart from Queen Elizabeth, the series also features other influential historical women, including Princess Margaret, Lady Diana Spencer, and British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.

The series is praised by critics worldwide for its direction, cinematography, and, most importantly, acting. If you are fascinated by the royals and Queen Elizabeth’s Reign, this one is definitely for you!

Bulbul

This is one of the rare gems of Indian cinema that portrays powerful feminism through a revisionist tale of a woman wronged by men in her life by using the supernatural horror genre.

Set in the late 19th century Bengal, it takes us into the life of a young bride who grows into a charming woman and later goes to extreme lengths to avenge herself.

From Tripti Dimri’s acting in the titular role, the exceptional writing by Anvita Dutt Guptan, and stirring performances by supporting actors, we love everything about Bulbul. And, we know you will too!

Though underrated, Reign is one of the best shows on Netflix, which centers around the real-life events of Mary Stuart- the queen Scots. Mary, the cousin of Queen Elizabeth I, is one of the most controversial personalities from the Elizabethan era.

Mary was merely six days old when she was named the queen and was engaged to King Francis of France at a very young age. The first season begins with the queen’s arrival to the French court, and as the story unfolds, we get to witness a perfect blend of passion and politics while covering significant events of queen mary’s real life.

Later in the show, more powerful female characters from European history, including Catherine de Medici and Elizabeth I, are introduced, and their personalities are equally inspiring.

The Lipstick Under My Burkha

Written and directed by Alankrita Shrivastava, Lipstick Under My Burkha is India’s first women-centric dark comedy.

The movie is about four women. Rehana (an aspiring pop star), Shirin (an oppressed housewife), Leela( a beautician living a claustrophobic life), and Usha (an aging widow with a secret affair).

The beauty of this story lies in the fact that all these women are shown taking down the patriarchy in their little ways. Just like the name suggests, the film is all about Indian women snatching their freedom back from society with little acts of rebellion.

Mimi

Centered around ‘Surrogacy,’ which is still an untouched avenue in Bollywood movies, Mimi is a film set around a small-town girl’s surrogacy journey. Kriti Sanon effortlessly essays the titular role, and Pankaj Tripathi always wins our hearts with his versatile acting.

It is a light and humorous film that makes you laugh aloud when chaos unfolds after the secret of Kriti’s pregnancy spills out.

Apart from the funny parts, it also gives you an insight into the multitude of emotions that a surrogate mother feels when she has to let go of the baby she birthed. All in all, it is one of the most beautiful women empowerment movies Bollywood has ever produced.
